Xcode deposits the project builds in your user library under /Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/

Look for a folder with a name containing the Xcode project name, and then look under Build/Products/. The app will be in the Debug folder or Release folder within, depending upon the type of build done.

Alternatively, you could have chosen Run under Xcode’s Product menu.

I don’t know that much more about Xcode either, other than it is not designed for occasional users like me.
