Interesting. On my own 10.11.6 system, 'POSIX path of (path to temporary
items from user domain)' definitely returns
"/Users/nigelgarvey/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/".

If the folder's moved while the editor's open, the results follow it
around. If it's deleted and the trash emptied, the result's a complaint
that some object wasn't found. After quitting and reopening the editor,
the original "…/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/" result's returned and
the folder's recreated in that location.

Academic, of course, if things have changed in 10.12.  :)
