Probably not much help, but handler names don't need to be lowercase any more,  and you might try using nil for the targetDescriptor.

And you could always try OSAScript instead -- the API is a bit more friendly (eg, array instead of va_arg), and this <http://forum.latenightsw.com/t/is-it-possible-to-call-javascript-from-applescript/291/3> shows handler calling works with it under 10.12/ASObjC.
