What do you mean exits in the Finder?
I create an app and save it to the desktop. I select an email and double click on the app. When it is complete I'm in the Finder.
I'm out of time now, but I'll create a shortcut and try that. There's no code whatsoever that has anything to do with the Finder.
I also use the Classic View.
The second script doesn't seem to do anything.
I warned you about that.
It works perfectly on my system for both messages displayed in a message-viewer and bare open message windows.
But System Events is very picky, and small changes to an app's UI can wreak havoc on GUI-scripts.
