A weird problem scripting Contacts

It is happening in 10.12.6
if I write the following script:
Tell app “Contacts” to return every person
person gets compiled as a variable.
If I change the script to
Tell app “Address Book” to return every person
it compiles to the first script and gets person correctly.
Can anyone reproduce this?
