I an't reproduce it but may I ask : was Contacts open when you tested you
script ?
Here, with the system used in French the instruction doesn't compile as long as
the app is not open.
This is not a new feature. It strikes for years.
Here, tell app doesn't compile. I must use tell application.
If I code :
tell application "Address Book" to return every person
it compiles as :
tell application "Contacts" to return every person
