Well, I don’t know about that. If I recall my K&R textbook, they described C as "a high-level” language back in the 80s, but now most people think C is “a low-level" language. I’m not sure what use there is in giving languages such descriptors.
In any case, Lua is no more "low-level" than AppleScript, whatever level you want to call that.

For some of us, that’s an advantage. :).
I don’t use Automator because I find it as confusing as hell, and I still find all the visual objects in Apple's Numbers.app irritating even though I switched to it from Excel about 2 years ago. There’s a lot to be said for the speed, transparency and accuracy of text-based development.
