So far I've not experienced this, but I'm running Ghostery and Adblock.

Can you point to a given URL that causes this repeatably?

2. Your script doesn't reset the TIDs.

I usually don't bother, unless I have a reason to.

Yep.  That's only a little over 1 millisecond slower than my code on my system in a 20 run test.

With about 37 windows open.  (I should have documented that more carefully — damn it...)

I don't start to notice until about 3-4 milliseconds, so I won't complain.  :)
