Phil,
Thanks for the heads up. Fortunately:
* While Microsoft will soon officially stop supporting (quit making
updates) for Office 2011, it will still run just fine on El Capitan -- High
Sierra. (might stop working if Apple imposes a 64-bit restriction in the future
OS versions).
* I don't have any politics to deal with that tell me what I can or can't
run.
Also, I have seen a number of posts that suggest/recommend running both Office
2011 and Office 365/2017, because Office 2017 has dropped some features, and
some scripting support.

The only sad thing about Office 2011 is that Microsoft will be stopping support
for it soon. You might want to go ahead and look at 2016 At my university,
technically we will be unable to run 2011, because it will be considered
unsupported software.
