If you were on a pre-10.14 system, I'd probably put it down to a terminology
conflict with a scripting addition, probably Satimage.osax. Perhaps you're
using SatimageOSAX.app under 10.14?
In both cases, the solution is to put pipes around the word "format" similar to
those around the word "error".
