Just following this up: Broadcast.app in the App Store is a scriptable Catalyst
app.
The developer, Steve Troughton-Smith, also tweeted:

(Where "trivial" is probably exaggeration for effect.)
A lot of Messages scripting no longer works in Catalina. I wouldn't have been
surprised to see Messages scripting disappear even if not a Catalyst app, for
security reasons.
