To mangle an expression, there are lies, damned lies, and Activity Monitor memory figures. In a VM system like OS X the raw figures are next to useless -- apps are meant to use memory. Not too much, but the system is much more complex than Activity Monitor shows.
If they're getting a serious slowdown after 12 hours, about you only practical course is to have it quit and reboot every 12 hours. An ASObjC app has very little control over memory management.
