During that time, the Apple Sales Box program was expanded further to

user groups and their ambassadors. From that, some of our MUGs took

also the
fight to relent and provide User Groups access to a free one year
subscription
to dot-Mac. It was a bona fide bonanza for MUGs from Apple.
The problem...things weren't as easy as they could have been. Many
hoops and
twists were necessary to have your group access these options. But...
they
were there.
We have been trying since February to get our 'UG Ambassador'
information updated, with no success until very recently.
We did not receive any information from Apple, no monthly mailing,
neither to the old ambassador nor to the new ambassador, even though
Apple had both sets of information and we had done everything required
to keep our information current.
We have never received any 'free' software from Apple, with the
exception of the Sales propaganda, and even that has stopped since the
first of the year.
I've been waiting for our 'free' dot-mac account for many weeks. I've
jumped through the 'hoops.' I've made many a 'twist.'
I was told when I emailed Jeff Mosqueda on Monday that I'd hear
something by the end of the week. Well, here it is, the end of the
week, and once again nothing.
We depended on the free iTools email account for our MUG.
This is exactly the kind of sloppy hit-and-miss support we've always
gotten from Apple.
And relative to the kind of generous donations we get from vendors like
Adobe, O'Reilly, Peachpit, and others, Apple is really not doing
anything.
There has been no 'bonanza' for us.
And frankly I think saying that getting one copy of OS X and one copy
of OS X Server in a whole year is a 'bonanza' is stretching the
definition a bit. It's more than we got, but it's no 'bonanza.'
