Hi Everyone,
Happy holidays to all MUGs and their members from Northern California.
As was mentioned on this list we have a number of members who volunteer
around our community. One member does refurbishing for a non-profit that
puts computers in classrooms and has talked a number of new members into
helping out also. One member who volunteers for Search & Rescue found a way
to use his Ti-book to work up an impressive presentation for a community
group.
As far as support from vendors goes I have never had a problem getting
things for review or for our yearly fundraiser. I have had literally
thousands of dollars worth of hardware and software donated to our group
just by asking. If any of you would like to see the list you can go to our
website and take a look. The address is
http://www.macchug.com under
sponsors. These people have been generous beyond belief. My answer to the
comment about Apple sending us "old" stuff, our members seem to appreciate
all that we have been given. Last year Garr sent us approx. $1000 dollars
worth of stuff, including a full retail copy of OS 10.1. So I guess it just
depends on how you look at the glass,eh. Again, Happy holidays to all and
hope to see you all in SF in a couple of weeks.
