MACINTOSH USER GROUPS WILL PARTICIPATE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MACFAIR 2002
Macintosh User Groups will have a strong involvement in MacFair 2002,
from both an exhibition and an operational standpoint. MUG members and
leaders will serve as volunteers in the presentation rooms. In addition
to introducing and hosting, each volunteer will have the opportunity to
promote their group to the attendees. MUGs can also obtain exhibit tables
to provide their groups with a better, better presence. If your MUG is
interested, contact user group liaison Claire Lemire at 714-740-1058.
MacFair 2002 will be held at Cerritos College in Norwalk CA on November
16th. The event will feature a series of seminars that range from MacOS X
Jaguar 10.2, Filemaker Pro and Panorama to "Wireless Solutions for Older
Macs," "DVD Authoring For Everyone," and much more. Compete details are
available on the MacFair 2002 web site.
MUG MEETING TOPIC: DEMONSTRATING THE LATEST FROM APPLE
The MUG Center will be updating our MUG Meeting Topics section on a more
regular basis with ideas your MUG can use at your next meeting.
Showing the newest offerings from Apple is something every MUG would like
to be able to do on a regular, timely basis. While it would be great if
Apple could send a representative to every group the month after each new
product or revision is released, that just isn't realistic. So they've
done the next best thing: Apple-recognized user group ambassadors now
have access to both Apple Sales Web (ASW) and the Learn & Earn Program.
Apple Sales Web gives user groups access to a variety of resources,
including press releases, promotion/rebate information, success stories
and briefings, FAQs and reviewers guides, QuickTime movies and
photography of Apple products, and many of the same materials used by
Apple representatives, including annotated Powerpoint presentations. The
latter are almost a meeting in a box: download it, learn the presentation
and you can show your group the latest and greatest from Apple.
Learn & Earn is a series of online interactive courses previously
available only to those selling and servicing Apple products. The courses
cover Apple technologies, products, services, technical support issues
and more. Want to get up to speed on a new release or increase your
knowledge on a topic of interest to you and your members? Learn & Earn is
there for you to do so.
Between these two great resources, you can generate many interesting,
relevant meeting topics for your MUG. If you are a recognized Apple user
group, your Ambassador has received information on how to access both ASW
and Learn & Earn.
