I thought you might like to have this, it was a what I sent to apple in
comments about the move to Boston and the feelings that they might not come.

--------------------
This is what I sent to Apple as a feedback Sunday, October 20th at about 6pm.
Hello
Today I was "surfing" and found an article at
http://www.powermax.com/news/stories.pl?c=F&a=4738
that said MacWorld was coming back to Boston after this year (2003) in NYC.
I also heard that Apple would not be participating in theBoston event.
I ask you to reconsider that decision.
It is ok to have something in NYC if you are going to deal with businesses
that live and operate in NYC but for the past few years these are my
observations about New York City.
They are
rude
lazy
unimaginative
very slow
very egotistical
sloppy
filthy
in essence, just about EVERYTHING
that is opposite of what Apple is.
Please come back to the user base that will be ever so happy back in a city
where there are green parks and people that care about people. If MacWorld
is held in Boston and Apple is not there, then that is the way it will be.
I do not know why you have tried to alienate yourself (apple) from those
regular people who buy apple/Macintosh computers, but that seems to have been
the decision direction for the past few years.
I also would like to tell you a little bit about us in the northern area of
the United States. We DO go to New York City, but we try to arrange a
meeting for about 10:30 am. That way we can get into the city, usually be
train and bus/taxi, (working on the train with our power books) and then
get to the meeting, have the meeting, and get the #*@@ out of that hell-hole
as fast as we can on the next train.
The place is NO LONGER the center of commerce in fact, only in fictitious
name.
The city and its people could
clean up their act
put trash in receptacles
walk along at a reasonable speed
use a few brains when responding to people
use some courtesy
find a value other than the immediate buck.
But no
they are something that most of us pray to be delivered from and we ask God
to somehow help them. Our fervrent prayer is that we NEVER have to be
transferred to that place.
There are good people there, but MacWorld as a show was a horror to endure in
New York.
Not once in Boston did some one try to sell me drugs, short change me, give
me wrong directions, or just be rude for the sake of it.
In Boston we did not have people just slowly going along the street, everyone
seemed to be going somewhere and knew what they were doing.
Please reconsider being involved in MacWorld when it moves back to Boston.
The Apple user base will be there, even if the high-powered pc leaning
companies might not be. We, the users, know that in Boston we will have a
chance to have a show like we had before, and enjoy and look forward to the
experience. We used to have bus loads go to MacWorld from the Users Group I
am a member of, now I think 3 of us made it to MacWorld and I was there
enduring it for the whole time only because I was a ranking officer and felt
and obligation to be there.
I believe MacWorld could alternate between NYC and Boston and the installed
user base would be content. One year we go to Boston, one year we go for
just one day or just read about it. But forcing us to not go to MacWorld for
years just because you want to hold it in that stinking bastion of
unimaginative greed, well that is something worthy of Dell, not apple.
Sincerely,
Charlie Knight
