Janice,
I too lead an On-Line only User Group and before I went public I had Chuck
Joiner take a look at the site. At one time I had posted the vendor
information and passwords on the site and was told by Chuck, not to do so. I
had no idea that I was not allowed to make that list public. But I was glad
that I had the opportunity to change it.
My solution was to create a Public Forum that one can join freely. However
to become a member of the user group and reap from the benefits, one would
need to subscribe to the members group which I can approve or reject. After
approval, you will have access to a Members Only Forum which contains vendor
list and passwords. I don't know about other sites that post this
information freely. I tried to look for them and I could not find it easily.
It's discussions like this that help new group leaders like me learn more
about managing User Groups. I'm not sure how it could be stopped.
