MUG COMMUNICATION CHANNELS: A REVIEW
One of the best ways for any MUG leaders to get help in running their
group is to ask other leaders. The odds are that the burning issue you
face has already been solved by someone else. But how to tap all that
knowledge and expertise? There are various ways to communicate with
fellow MUG leaders and advocates; just pick the one that suits your style
and preference:
Email Lists: The Apple User Group Discussion List (AUGD) is the official
Apple-provided list for discussion of any and all user group topics.
Populated by MUG leaders from around the world, it is a high-quality, low
traffic list that is an essential resource.
Real-Time Chat: If you prefer live "discussion" about user group activies
and issues, World Without Borders hosts 5 different MUG chats each month.
These scheduled events are always lively, informative and friendly.
Forums: Perhaps you prefer a discussion-board format, where topics can be
posted at yoru convenience and threads of information are archived for
later review. The Forums on The MUG Center are available 24/7/365 for you
to post questions, tips, suggestions and user group-related discussion
topics.
The Personal Touch: User group leaders who are just starting to explore
the global community may be a bit shy (yes, hard to believe, but it does
happen) about jumping right in on any of the above. If so, contact one of
Apple's three volunteer teams , the User Group Advisory Board, Regional
Liaison Team, or Campus Group Advisory Board, to find out where to start.
No matter what option you select, you and your user group will benefit.
