Hi Dan,
For the purposes of discussion here:
Do you pay for internet access or is it in place in your meeting
facilities?
No, it's free to us since we meet at the local highschool, all we need
are proxy & port numbers.
What costs are incurred?
None
Can your members in attendance also access it?
At this point, no, simple b/c we haven't had an airport to plug in. At
some point I'd like to get an airport for myself, if I do, I'll be
taking it to the meetings, then, anyone with a card could access it.
Would your group be interested in some type of program to get a user
group rate for meeting ISP access (if that's possible - maybe a member
price from a national provider, etc.)?
At this point, since we're not paying anything, no. If we ever end up
somewhere else that might be a good thing to have.
What do you think is a reasonable price for broadband? (esp. given
that most would only use it one day per month)...
I don't know that I'd go for broad band unless we had an office where
we had staff on hand (volunteer or otherwise) throughout the month for
people to drop in w/ tech or "how do I" questions. I don't know about
other areas, but in S. OR., you're looking in at least $40 to $60 a
month - way too much for just 1 meeting.
Cheers!
