Hi Joe,
I don't think $40 is too much if the locality will support it. It makes
a big difference if you're in a smaller, poorer town (like Grants Pass
OR) or San Francisco.
We charge $18 a year single membership, $30 for a couple & $15 for
students.
For visitors, 1st time is always free, and any non-member can attend
the meeting for $3 a meeting (we just raised it from $1). But with
this, we don't stand at the door double checking, we let people know &
work on their honor.
Cheers!

Our MUG The Rest of Us in Chicago costs $40 per year. After reading
the posts on the club entry thread I'm wondering if $40 is exorbitant
for a MUG to charge?
It's kind of difficult to judge the trade off between membership
enrollment vs MUG budget. Our MUG has just over 90 members if we
charged $20 per year we would need to have 180 members to break even
on our gross intake however our expenses for post cards and
newsletters would increase dramatically.
If $40 is too much how have MUGS decided on membership fees?
