Apple Corps of Dallas charges $30/yr single user membership less for
students; $10 more for each new member of a family.
Our meetings are open for anyone to attend - but we only allow members
to enter raffle or benefit from the Crossword Puzzle Grand Prizes
(usually with prize values from $99-$800).
Recently, we began to entertain the idea to closing SIG meetings to
members only - but have not implemented that as of yet.
We provide a meeting space with T-1 connectivity for 5 hours/ once a
month (@ $300/month), a First-class BBS with email (and SPAM
filtering), a quality Newsletter and free tech support through the BBS
daily, and from 3 ACN members at the Help Desk SIG after the monthly
meeting.
Personally, we give a lot of bang-for-the-buck. Which may explain why
we are growing so much faster (than other local user groups).

We charge $30. I would hardly consider $40 exorbitant. You have to
cover your club's expenses for the services that members agree on in a
manner that is acceptable to them. If they prefer shelling out $40
over holding bake sales or a reduction in services, so be it.
