You know I read through the last set of postings and I felt I was back
in college. I understand the debate. I can even see all sides......
Still I wonder if some of this energy was channeled into something _ I
have some ideas, but that's my side of the conversation. I think that
Apple is beginning to recover basic costs. In the current environment,
companies that continue to ignore the bottom line get the line cut out
from under them.
That Apple has shifted it's costs back to the user and UG is not a
surprise. There will probably be more. We are all debating over $8 a
month. I was a part of Mindshare in the past when they sent out
software packages the latest Word, even a Sidewinder Joy Stick and a
controller for a Powerpoint side show. Companies change. So does what
they offer.
I ask that you all take a step back and think about the last 5 years as
a member. Think of all the changes, even the people we work with. If
you want to move forward than start formulating a response that Jeff can
use. This may lead to a better relationship, an opportunity to
contribute beyond your own backyard. And yes it takes time, not a lot,
especially when you work it out together.
So my own bottom take on this. $8 is the price point. There should be
an accurate list of contents. Check it every time it comes out. If
what it contains makes sense to you than order it. And yes, you most
like will be able to download it from Apple's Web Site. I have paid
Netscape to ship me a CD of the last 2 updates. That was worth it to
me. Would I get it before? I used Smart Update before it was far
easier. Then after downloading 6.2.3, a couple of hours later, I saw
the value of paying the $5. That's the way I see it.
Hope it helps.
David
