Hi John!!
The thing I have noticed while playing with Keynote is that if you
import a PP presentation, it becomes 3-4 times the size in Keynote. I
am told that you can adjust this.. but I am not sure on how this
works. Otherwise, it acts very much like PP.. but with more polished
features.
Here's a Forbes review:
http://www.forbes.com/2003/01/30/cx_pm_0130tentech.html
I've used it for converting Powerpoint and haven't seen the ballooning
in image size of 3-4 times but more relevantly for me I have seen that
some headers need to have their text fields resized so the text isn't
clipped. A 48 slide Powerpoint that was 8.5 MB turned into a 11.5 MB
Keynote document. A lot of this (I can see) is directly attributable to
lots of duplicated images - Keynote converts them to uncompressed TIFFs
and that's where the size increase comes in I think.
It's not as "feature complete" as Powerpoint in some ways but in a lot
of those ways they are extra features perhaps omitted for "taste" as
Forbes describes.
We have 8 hours of presentations coming up next Friday....and every
single one will be Keynoted...
