Hey All,
Six months ago I posted the number of user groups and Apple Stores in each
state as of Aug '02 and Jan '03 and how their numbers had grown. Now that
another six months have gone by, I thought an update was in order. I quickly
re-surveyed Apple's online locator and retail page for that info, and was
surprised by the results. Here are those numbers and some comments.

Perspective.
In the past six months, total U.S. MUGs fell from 598 to 548 (-8%), and
Apple Stores grew from 53 to 62 (+17%). States that saw the most MUG growth
were FL (+3) and MI (+3). States that saw the most MUG losses were CA (-10),
MA (-9), IL (-8), NY (-6), and VA (-5). Overall, 10 states gained MUGs, 25
states lost some, and 7 states gained Apple Stores.
Hopefully, Apple, the Advisory Board and Regional Liaisons can see that
Idaho, North Dakota and West Virginia are hanging on w/ only one MUG each, and
the District of Columbia and South Dakota now have no MUGs -- Mac users in
these states have no general/public/community groups in their states to go to
for help or support.
