I'd have to echo Deborah Shadovitz's experience. Before the store opened, we
were contacted by the manager and we started making plans together: mutual
meetings, training classes, their staff coming to our meetings. After the
store opened, things radically changed. No participation in classes.
Meetings at the store really were hard to do due to lack of seating. And the
latest was that their policy was that they could not attend user group
meetings.
Has it had any effect on membership, I've not seen any evidence one way or
the other. To my knowledge, if a customer asks about user groups, they are
referred to the user group locator.
On the positive side, I think that any public retail Apple presence is good
for user groups.
