Hey Chuck, all,

I'm so glad to see Part 2, as Conflict's such a huge topic, whatwith Part 1 seeming to end up promoting Bylaws as a means of preventing it, some Chat attendees might have felt this barely scratched the surface and had other ideas or situations in mind that didn't get addressed...

The topic has been on my mind since last month, not because I have a lot of it <hehehe>, but b/c I *don't* have a lot of it... I wrote this msg and an accompanying one a couple of weeks ago, and thought I would wait for a lull in the list to post it, but Chuck's msg seemed like a great excuse...

"Dealing with Difficult Members" was a UGU NY 2002 session topic, and its PowerPoint presentation is available online... Its 44K download expands to a 172K 120 slide show...! Scott Pelok of MacTechnics in Michigan, its author, did an excellent job...

<http://www.mugcenter.com/ugu/ugunyc2002/schedule.html>

It describes seven types of difficult people (and a few sub-types), and how to deal w/ them: the Hostile-Aggressive (Sherman Tank, Sniper, Exploder), Constant Complainer (Complete, Triangular), Silent and Unresponsive, Super-Agreeable, Negative People, Know-it-all (Bulldozer, Balloon), and Indecisive Staller...

It's a great read, and I couldn't help but see a little of each of these in myself, depending on the situation... There's so much here that, recalling and applying it all will take me some time... I can see how role-playing could be helpful... I'd be interested in hearing how others feel about it, either here or during Chat this week...

Sincerely,
