Hi All / Trish:

For me, it will depend a lot on what if any activities specifically designed for User Group members or Executives take place, and at this point I am not overly optimistic that there will be much of that.

In the past, I could justify an entire week's participation. A bunch of us from different MUGS would drive down together from Canada on the Saturday before the show, do the tourist routine for a day or two, take in UGU, then find ways to help out at various UG functions over the three days of the show, then head home the following Saturday. Personally, I never found that taking in the MacWorld Exhibits required all three days, but it was all about staying together as a group for the week and smoozing with all the other User Group, vendor, and Apple folks that we'd known from prior events, plus making new contacts.

Under the new approach, I doubt if there would be "User Group Breakfasts" or a "User Group Lounge" or maybe even "User Group Guides" to keep the adrenalin pumping over all three days. If there was a UGU, I might particupate for that and maybe one day of the show, but I would probably make it a holiday week with my wife out of which I only spend one or two days at the Mac events and the balance would be just a very nice New York City holiday.

Our local User Group is community-based, and the demographic makeup of our members does NOT really match the sort of audience to which CREATE is targeted. They would have to extend the scope of "create" well down into the consumer level applications like iLife before there might be a match. Not that a whole lot of our club members would be making the trip of NYC anyway, but my point is simply that my participation in MW NYC was also always driven by a sense of "what can I do here that will be of ultimate value to our MUG members" and my sense is that this will be more difficult if Create is targeted at higher end, professional, Mac users when my club has few people matching this profile.

That's my two cents (Canadian) worth!

Jim
