Doan,
Just wanted to let you know that I received all three just fine, in sequence,
as you sent them earlier. As for the web archives, I can't answer on what
happened there.
The closest Apple Stores to our UG is over 2 and 1/2 hours away to the South,
and much further East or NorthWest. A few of our members do manage to visit
when they are headed somewhere past it's location, otherwise, it take a
special Sunday trip (and a specific purchase not found locally) to make it
there! I doubt that they would be willing to offer any personel from their
employees to present at our UG, but due to the time involved in travel and
that our meetings are in the evening, I don't think anyone from our club has
really tried to get their involvement.
Our local Apple vendors are at CompUSA, MicroCenter (40 minutes away) and
several small licensed resellers/repair companies. The only store willing to
place out brochures was MicroCenter, but when members would go out there, no
brochures could ever be found on display. The Mac store and personel there is
much more Mac aware and involved than CompUSAs.
The individual resellers are great! We have two that belong to the group and
are very involved in technical support presentations. There is a third that
comes in two or three times a year from the local education reseller/Apple
recognized repair facility and offers support and sharing of his tech
knowledge.
The most local Cusa added a new sales consultant within the last year who has
begun attending our meetings. Presentations are out of the question at this
time as he was a transferee from the store's Windows networking department and
is still learning the Mac. The Cusa "Apple Store within A Store" has lost
aisles and space since the change due to integration, but I think that to the
uniniated this just looks like there aren't many items available for the Mac.
He's also had to cut back in hours due to a decrease in Mac sales. ** I like
him and get along well but I really wanted his job! --Imagine-- working with
Macs at home, at work and talking about them to strangers! Heaven! **
We're currently working on setting up some type of grand event that will
benefit us both. We'll see how that goes.
Macbeth
