Hi Art,
Here's the link to SF 2004 UGU that has the dates, pricing, etc:
http://www.mugcenter.com/ugu/ugusf2004/ugusf2004.html
Last year was my first UGU. Our MUG was on a tight enough budget that I
paid my own way (each attendee is paying their own way this year too),
and it was worth every penny. Too many times I get to feeling "I'm in
this alone", and UGU is the perfect place to not only learn great tips
on how to make your MUG better, but THE place to actually build
relationships, put face with virtual smile and get to know others in
the MUG community. The latter (building relationships) was the
highlight of my whole UGU & expo experience.
Beyond that, I went home with a ton of new ideas of how to make things
better for our MUG. Most of the sessions provided some type of handout,
and this year there's a CD in the works which will hold much more than
what could ever be handed out. Plus, having a chance to meet and mingle
with the vendors gives you a chance to build relationships with them so
that when you contact them for your MUG needs, you know who you're
talking to, and they know you.
If you can afford the trip across country, I say UGU is a MUST. Looking
forward to meeting you & putting virtual smile with a face.
Cheers!

As long as the list is active with Macworld discussions, my question is
about the User Group University. As we all know funds are pretty tight
to
travel across country for a expo about our favorite computer. I am
hoping my
Board of Directors will approve a small contribution so I can attend
the
User Group University and hopefully bring back some useful info that
will
help our Group but I need more info to help my case.
I have been to the website <http://www.mugcenter.com/ugu/ugu.html> and
seen
some of the information. I do not however see a listing about the cost
and
outline for the 2004 Expo. Any news yet on dates and fees?
Is it really worthwhile for those User Groups that are on a budget but
need
better organization and information?
Is there anything physical that can be brought home that would benefit
the
group (info packets, vendor donations, door prizes, etc) that would
show the
group that it is money well spent?
Any positive stories or success stories of a User Group University
related
event that anyone would care to share?
Looking forward to the responses.
