Rick and all,
I was just about to plunge in with my definitions of a member and how one
should be, but that is still a work in progress. In the meantime though,
here's how the Beijing Macintosh User Group defines a UG member:
Our Constitution opens up membership to all interested or are actual in
possession of Macs in Beijing; those overseas should contact the President
(who apparantly is somewhere on this list and can not be located at the
moment) to request membership. Membership is a matter of submitting an
application form and getting your member name and password.
Frequent visitors are invited to become members but are not one till they
fill out the form...
We're also thinking how organisations can join the group. We really don't
feel like limiting it to an org, three votes/n'letter and so, but every org.
member who joins in who gets a n'letter would possibly run us dry of the big
###.
Members also get election rights and the chance to become a member of the
group's new semi-elite but totally-unpaid executives board, the
inappropriately-longly-named Central Executives Committee. They also get a
Welcome Envelope and Membership Card.
Those on the Forum, iChat and ListServ are not necessarily members. They are
Friends = humans + BeiMac link - BeiMac membership. (I know it's a brutal
formula, but it must be written.)
Respectfully,
Yan Feng
(now where was that carton of peach juice I put down before replying to this
message... oh there, found it...)
