The 20th anniversary of the Mac got me thinking about the history of our
groups. A few groups have been around since the early days of the Apple II,
some of us got started shortly after the Macintosh's birth, and new groups
have been forming ever since.
How long has your group been around? Does your group keep archives (such as
old newsletters) or otherwise track your group's history? Do you do anything
special to recognize the members who have been with the group for the
longest?
I'll start the ball rolling with our group. MUG ONE, the Macintosh User
Group of Oneonta, NY was founded January 27, 1986. Six of the eighteen
founding members are still active in the group. We keep an archive of
newsletters from 1986 to the present, as well as some old Apple user group
publications. We have acknowledged the founding members informally at
meetings, but it would be nice to do something more special.
What about your group?
