The Syracuse Macintosh Users Group (SMUG), formerly The Syracuse Apple
Users Group (TSAUG), is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. I
believe we have at least three, maybe four, of the founding members
still involved in the group; one of them is our Treasurer. I have spent
quite a bit of time over the course of the past year scanning old
newsletters to add to our later PDF copies. We now have a substantially
complete set from May 1982 to present, plus a couple of issues from
mid-1981. I also have a substantially complete archive of the Minutes
of our business meetings from 1983 to present. Between the two, they
give a pretty reasonable picture of our history.
Our June meeting is dedicated to Apple history in general, featuring as
guest speaker a former member who has made quite a hobby of it. We are
also talking about maybe a display of old machines (still running, of
course!) in conjunction with that. I've been thinking that some sort of
display of the newsletter archive would fit in nicely with that. I also
like the idea of recognition of those early members. Elsa, thanks for
that suggestion! I'm sure that will be met with enthusiasm by the
members of our Board.
