Lorene, I even for regular meetings, I try to get my events listed in
the paper's calendar. This is not just for the local daily, but for the
monthly computer publications as well as the weekly alternative press.
Unfortunately, they have a tendency to publish only from organizations
that have sent them a press release over a period of time. This maybe
due to the desire to make sure that it is legitimate or it may just be
due to space limitations. But getting free press is always nice. Also,
it doesn't hurt to consider a classified ad. Some people ignore the
display ads, but read the classifieds religiously. Put it in with the
computers for sale.

Hello Fellow MUG Leaders,
NCMUG (of Santa Rosa, CA) will be having their 12th annual Mac Computer
Expo. Currently we have 22 vendors and an awesome line up of speakers.
We
have about 6 weeks before the event. We are very excited and have a
planning
committee that works well together to make this event happen every
year.

What I am looking for are more suggestions on how to get the word out
to the
public. This year we will be posting ads in our local paper, I have
notified
all the local MUGs in the area and we have people posting fliers around
Sonoma county.
What resources have you used to let the world know about your events?
