I'm not sure why Mr. Ferguson chose to post this. I do take exception to the comments he makes here, but I would rather not discuss such matters publicly at this time.
My original post was with regard to the original thread about the trials and tribulations of dealing with Apple stores. By relating TRoU's experiences I hope that others will be able to understand that it can be tricky but it would seem that there is a lot more untapped potential opportunity for other user groups inside those glowing white backlit Apple logos.

Hmmm.... so sorry to bust this thread dear AUGD subscribers.
As you may remember the infamous "Dirty Laundry Thread" some time back, an issue has once again arose in The Rest of Us politics.
In October our MUG had it's elections. Only one seat was contested that was for the position of Vice president Internal.
Tim Allison the former TRoU President decided to run against the incumbent VP Internal.
The incumbent won 19-16. After the election and the meeting was over there was grumbling led primarily by Barbara Passman and another Board Member that there may have been something amiss. Accusations were made and none were confirmed.
Initially the Board without the incumbent VP Internal available (She was in Italy) the BOD decided to have a run off.
There was citing from Robert's Rules and Illinois Non For Profit laws that did not substantiate the cause or format for another election. After careful consideration three BOD members and the incumbent VP Internal moved to not hold another election.
At the meeting suspecting that there may be a ruckus I printed up flyers of the October Election Results.
No reelection was held and afterwards our new President Russ Conte told me and other members that there will be no reelection because there was no support on the BOD to have one.
A few months ago the Theater Manager confirmed what another Apple Store employee told me that there is no longer a ban on photography at the Store. At this months meeting I brought along my camera I snapped some photos including our presenter Dr. Mac holding up one of my election result flyers. I posted them to my .Mac account web site and posted the link to our listserve.
One of Tim's other supporters wrote to the BOD insisting I knowingly did something against Apple policy. He insisted that actions be taken and that I should be banned from future meetings if not expelled from TRoU all together. He forwarded this to Barbara Passman because she video tapes our meetings and is familiar with all the ins and outs of most Apple Store/MUG relations except apparently about the change in rules on photography.
Russ Conte, TRoU President emailed me telling me I must take down my site because it was a flagrant violation of Apple Policy and that I should have known better. The former Apple Store Theater Manager was on my iChat Buddy list and I asked him again about the policy and he confirmed it again. I took a screen shot of the iChat and sent it to Russ.
That in a nutshell the size of a watermelon, is where this thread is leading to.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Joe Ferguson

I am curious :)
Do we have any idea of how many User Groups have been able to establish special rapport with their local Apple Store?
IF so , how is the relationship assisting the MUG?
Can the MUG use Apple Store premises for meetings or programs?
Are Apple Store staff available to "do" programs for the MUG?
Any special discounts for the MUG members?
This came up on the list a year ago or longer. AM curious about the current state of Apple Store and Apple User Group relationships.
Thanks
