Do we have any idea of how many User Groups have been able to
establish special rapport with their local Apple Store?
IF so , how is the relationship assisting the MUG?
Can the MUG use Apple Store premises for meetings or programs?
Are Apple Store staff available to "do" programs for the MUG?
Any special discounts for the MUG members?
The President of our users group, the Lansing Area Macintosh And Lisa
Users Group (LAMALUG), Ed Noonan, is also a Mac Specialist at the Apple
Store Twelve Oaks in Novi, Michigan. He has made several presentations
to LAMALUG, MacTechnics (the Ann Arbor, Michigan MUG), and others. He
will be participating with me in an iPod program at this month's
LAMALUG meeting, and he is scheduled to make a presentation on January
11, 2005 on Backup Strategies to the Hartland Area Macintosh Users
Group (HaMUG) in Hartland, Michigan.
While most of the area MUGs are located too distant from the two
Detroit area Apple Stores to meet there, the stores have offered to let
us meet there and do work with the MUGs to the extent practicable.
Several Apple Store personnel have made presentations.
Additionally, the Apple Rep at the local CompUSA store has volunteered
to make presentations to our MUG or to host meetings at the CompUSA
Store, and EUBULUS, a local Apple VAR, has hosted meetings, supplied
presenters and equipment.
There are no special Apple Store discounts for MUG members.
John Belen,
Vice President/Ambassador: Lansing Area Macintosh and Lisa Users Group
