One class away from my degree in human sercices and with only a couple
of exceptions the classes I took were facilitated discussion groups.
Although this format has been quite disappointing and difficult to
understand why each class cost $1,800 each that is now how many classes
are done. Many times in the classes assignments are even done in a
group assignment format. All is very similar to what we presently call
a S.I.G. although at a much more reasonable price. :-)

As long as that is what you want it to be in your users group, that's
fine. Ideally, though, our interpretation of what a special interest
group should be (and what a users group should be, for that matter) is
a facilitated discussion group rather than an instructor-class
relationship. In reality, this level only develops for us with our
Advanced SIG. The Beginners and Intermediate SIGs naturally require
more guidance, although we encourage as much interaction as possible.
