I'm wondering...who presents program topics in your group? The same person
each time? Different members? Outside presenters?
If it is the same person each month, does that person pick the topic?
If it is different members, do those members pick their own topics?
How are your topics chosen? >>
Good question. I am sure everyone does it differently. Our group picks 6
people every 6 months to do a program topic. The person is responsible to have the
program and to come up with a topic (some times we make suggestions). That
person doesn't have to do the presentation, they only have to be responsible.
They may contact someone to help do the presentation but, George or Mary is
responsible that it happens. This tends to lead to diverse topics and topics on
several levels. For example, we have a Genealogy Special Interest Group. If this
was your month, you may ask one of the Gene SIG people to do a discussion of
a general Genealogy topic. If a new OS or piece of software comes out, one of
the members may do a demo or discussion. By spreading it out, it doesn't
become a burden to anyone person and we don't get the same person with the same
topic every month.
