I used to attend a lot of meetings around the country as well. Since
1982, I have been a member of 20 or so Apple & Mac groups and even a
couple of PC groups.
Unlike Deborah, I don't have any one doing my PR, but wish I did.
The fall after I moved to Boston, I set up a presentation to the
Honolulu MUG by the fellow who at the time was head developer at Lotus
for a Mac spreadsheet (Symphony) and also the Director of the BCS Mac
Group. I worked with Honolulu Apple Users Society as my first UG, for
four years.
It really is interesting to see all the different ways that the members
can be educated and entertained. Not always in that order. Also the
different way that groups are organized, although it seem more recently
that it usually boils down to a few members serving the larger
membership.
This is a great question, and it spurs me to try to go to more
neighborhood MUGs.

Rick, considering how exotic your group is to so many of us, I think
your
group should actually create a luggage sticker as a souvenir. (My
suitcase
is a backpack so a sticker wouldn't stick, but I still love the idea.)
