Richard's words are wise. The individual is really putting you on a spot
by even asking.

That's the first question to ask (says the insurance guy ;)
In addition to Richard's other points, there is the question of who is
responsible if the unit comes back "mysteriously" broken. Can the group
afford to absorb, at the low end, a repair bill, or at the high end, a
replacement projector?
**If** you decide to do the loan, it might be wise to put a charge on it
that is comparable with renting a projector commercially. At least you
have a chance of recouping some of the costs associated with wear and
tear, and also put up something of an automatic barrier to this becoming
a frequently asked favor. There are good reasons projectors are expensive
to rent.
