This take is IMHO.
I attended CompUSA's event last evening. I was there at 4:15pm, stayed one hour. That was actually longer than i needed to stay...
Good & Bad Things:
First, the good. The Apple Rep gave me lots of info for discounts for for our MUG. The discount depends on product but can be up to 75% off (cables, etc.)
Forget about anything on AppleStuff. No surprise here.
One needs to contact Business Services.
Now, the bad:
No MacMini on display, no iPod Shuffles in stock (the Apple rep had one hanging from his neck and said Circuit City & Best Buy had a few left!) , no new iPods, no new PowerBooks, etc.
In the "old days" when I worked with MarketSource doing CUSA, CC, Best Buy, Sears, etc., I ALWAYS had refreshments, demos, neato give-aways—the stuff you would like to see at an OpenHouseForUserGroups. That wasn't the case last night:( FoodIsImportantDel!
I am still wondering how this event was marketed? Most of the folks visiting the CUSA AppleStore were not members of any MUGs although we have three (3) in the local area.
