Well, lemme give you the 411 for my little corner of south Florida.
I just heard back from some of my members Re: CompUSA's Apple Users Open House.
It seems that about a dozen of my members showed up at the CUSA on Okeechobee Blvd. In West Palm Beach, Florida.
The "Apple" clerk was about a half hour late, and when he did arrive, one of my past Board members asked him when the 'demo' would start? Are there any 'specials' he could see? This seemed to supprise the rep 'cause he wasn't aware of anything scheduled for that store.
Luckily my club member had the email I sent with the CompUSA weblink. The guy looked at it on an in-house computer, then printed it to show his manager.
It seems that the manager wasn't aware of any special Apple Event either, regardless of what the CompUSA website said.
The manager apologized but said there was nothing special going on at the store, but they are welcome to browse the Apple section.
Needless to say my members were not happy, and they left.
If you really want, I will be happy to ask these folks that did go to send in their own personal stories, but I figure its going to have some unprintable comments. Suffice to say that, as usual, CompUSA and Apple is like oil and water. They can both be in the same container, but they don't seem to mix.
I don't think I should send out any more notices to my members unless someone can confirm that there really is something going on. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
