Hello Everyone,
The issue I have with these events is that they are always held on a
weekday. I have a number of professional people with money to spend but not
a lot of weekday time to take off(Doctors, Lawyers, Dentists, Contractors
Developers). I would like to attend some of these events myself but cannot
afford to take a day off for something like this. We are located in Chico,
California which is in the Northern Sacramento Valley. The closest Comp USA
is about 2 hours drive in Roseville, just outside Sacramento. There is an
Apple store in Sacramento proper which is just a few minutes further down
the road.
We also have no real access to an Apple reseller. The university in town
sells Apple products but they cannot legally sell to us because they are an
education reseller. One of our members found out a while back when he tried
to register an Apple product he bought there and they (meaning Apple) nearly
refused to register his product. We have a Best Buy but as an example of how
inept they are, I had a member come to a meeting and tell me the salesperson
at Best Buy actually told him an Ethernet hub he was going to purchase would
not work on a Mac, then proceeded to take it and put it back on the shelf.
Our group has bought items from the Comp USA in Roseville. I do this when I
can or happen to be in the area, mainly as a way of saying thanks to the
Apple Solutions Specialist who works there ( Bob Bowman). He has always been
a big help and has even made the 4 hour round trip on a weeknight to come up
and do demos for us.
I do believe that our members would respond much better to these events if
they were held on a weekend. Heck, I would even go out of my way for it if I
did not have to take time off. I really do hope Apple and Comp USA are
hearing this. I don't think that they are seeing the kind of turn out they
could have if it was done just a little differently.
