Hi Ed and All,
We at NEOAC had a successful presentation using iSight and iChat AV
earlier this year.
We worked with our contact at the IT Department at the Cuyahoga
County Public Library since we meet at the Strongsville Library which
is in Strongsville Ohio, just south of Cleveland. They were most kind
and helpful.
You can read about the presentation on page 4 of the March Issue of
the Apple Bits, our club's newsletter.

One suggestion I have made SEVERAL times is to use Apple¹s Video
Conferencing capability to meet with remote MUG locations.
Apple¹s new
software would let us have 3 or more locations share one meeting
with
an Apple expert.
Our MUG has tried unsuccessfully to use iSight cameras and iChat AV
for remote presentations at our meetings. The problem has been
getting through institutional firewalls at both ends of the
connection. As I understand it, the institution would need to open
Port 5060 to enable video conferencing, but the IT people are
typically unwilling to do so for fear of compromising security. Has
anybody had any luck with iChat AV connections at institutions
(colleges or corporations)?
