Have you considered a special award for the Company/Individual that has
helped your group the most over the last 12 months (either within or outside
your MUG) ?
Also if there are other MUG's within your state have you considered seeing
if they'd be interested in doing something similar ? If so possibly a couple
of special eg "Texan MUG Resource of the Year" awards could be presented on
a state level. A state wide initiative may lead to more publicity.
I've actually proposed a similar idea on a national level to all the
Australian MUG's. I only received a few positive response from the various
MUG's but your efforts have motivated me to give it another go.
The main thing is to just keep everything as positive as you can. Promoting
the many good reasons for using a Mac & belonging to a MUG plus a little
publicity can only lead to new members if things go smoothly.
