Hi guys,
Allow me to provide a little reality check here.
When a vendor is approached or agrees to a special offer, the first
preference is *always* global availability. Makes sense from everyone's
perspective:
- it serves a wider audience from the user group perspective
- the vendor potentially gets more sales
- everyone wins.
The first unfortunate reality is that when physical distribution is
required, sometimes the shipping costs make any offer prohibitive.
The second unfortunate reality is that, in some cases, due to corporate
structure, the technology involved, or political nonsense, that company
is legally prohibited from distributing products outside this or that
territory.
Every vendor I talk to would much prefer to give the same thing to
everyone (assuming it makes business sense for them), but sometimes
circumstances beyond their control intervene.
As John says, if you get a good deal for *your territory," regardless of
where it is, congratulations! Post it here and let others know, or email
it to me and I'll post it on The MUG Center to help spread the word.
