Wondered if I could run something by here, and ask if others have

Since originally posting my inquiry on this subject, i have done a
little more investigation and thought others might find the following
info useful...
To review, I had set up a separate OS X Account on my Mac at home, in
order to create an all new and mainly empty Address Book and Mail
application. I then filled that Account's Address Book with all of
the current paid-up members of our MUG. I knew that there would over
time be entries in this Address Book for people who were no longer
active members of the club, since I would want to retain their info
for possible future uses. I therefore set up an Address Book Group
just for our MUG Members.
Finally, I sync'd this Account to our MUG's .Mac account on the Apple
Servers, and I was able to confirm by accessing our dot-Mac account
via a browser that all our MUG Member records had indeed been passed
up the chain to our dot-Mac account.
The problem, though, was that the Sync process DOES NOT result in any
Groups appearing in the online Address Book or being accessible
through the online Mail application.
I wondered, though, whether the Group info WOULD be passed to a
second Macintosh if it sync'd to our dot-Mac account. I tested this
out last night at the home of our Newsletter Editor and I found that
the Group info DOES sync to his Mac. So it is being sent up to the
dot-Mac Servers but the web based applications simply don't let you
access it. Possibly Apple does not want people sending "bulk" emails
out via the web based Mail application.
But this does confirm that we could have some of our Executives set
up a specific user account on their OS X Mac's, sync it to our MUG's
dot-Mac account, with one result being that those Executives would
have a fairly straightforward way to send out email communications to
all our MUG members without having to chase the Membership Chairman
for an up to date list of email addresses.
Now, if only our Membership Chairman was running OS X himself, he
could actually be put in charge of maintaining the accuracy of the
Membership data in this location as well as his FileMaker database.
Over time, he might well decide that he doesn't need the FileMaker
database at all, although I rather think he would.
My Mac is running OS X 10.4 but our Newsletter Editor was running OS
X 10.39 so it appears NOT to be necessary that everyone be running
the most current OS.
Now, I am off to investigate whether there are any limits to HOW MANY
Macs are allowed to Sync to our dot-Mac account. I seem to think
there is a limit, but not sure. Will advise if I find there is a limit.
