In July 2005, Graeme Moffat the Oceania Regional Liaison wrote in his
quarterly report.
"There is lots of valuable information and resources available for user
groups from Apple such as free copies of selected software, professionally
created Keynote presentations on most Apple hardware and software, a
resource DVD sent to user groups that each registered user group may order
from the Apple Sales Web for a small fee and a free dot Mac account once
ambassadors have earned 2,000 points as well as pass the .Mac quiz from the
Apple Sales Training Online (ATSO)."
Whereas, Dale Gillard (Coffs Harbour Apple Macintosh Users Group) wrote
"User Groups in Oceania (Australia, New Zealand and others) are not
eligible for a .Mac account. I went thru the process of waiting for
the activation key and progressively querying Apple Sales Web only to
be told it doesn't apply to us."
I would like to know officially who is right. Specifically what are Oceania
MUG Groups entitled to and what exactly do we miss out on and why?
It's time some of these imbalances were corrected. This should also apply to
other regions apart from Oceania. I mean there is life outside of the USA
and in these days with free trade agreements between the US & Australia
there's no good reason for implementing protectionist policies. It's not
like we're asking for a Green Card just a .mac site for all MUGs.
