Dear Milan,
A group logo contest is a great idea – not just for new groups, but
also for groups whose logo has gotten a little dated (designed for
printing on an ImageWriter, perhaps?) or includes an Apple logo or
trademarked images.
As Amaya explained, individual groups are not permitted to use the
Apple logo in their group's logo.
Here's information about logo usage from the User Groups > Leader
Questions and Answers page on the Apple website:
---
How do we create a name and logo?
When thinking about a name or logo, be creative. Talk with other
leaders about the possibilities. Create a unique brand identity for
your group. Make your logo your own, which means not including the
Apple logo or Apple trademarked images. Apple does provide an
approved logo that groups can use to identify themselves as
recognized Apple user groups. The recognized Apple user group
Ambassador can obtain these signature files along with the usage
guidelines from Apple Sales Web (part L27741A-US).

---
This means that an individual group's logo should not include any
form of the Apple logo, Apple hardware or software images, or any
other image trademarked by Apple.
On the other hand, Apple provides a "signature file" - a special
Apple logo designed for user groups - that can be used by all
recognized Apple user groups on websites and other materials. Think
of this logo as a web badge that shows that a group is recognized by
the Apple User Groups program.
Hope this helps,
Elsa

Hi to all,
just wondering, since we here in Belgrade got the information that
Apple logo can't be used in a UserGroup logo. Is that true? We are
just online user group at http://www.macserbia.org with regular,
but informal, meetings every second Saturday in month and we are in
process of voting for our logo. Since we eliminated the proposals
that contain logo, and there were some very good ones with it, from
voting, should we put them back on the voting list?
Regards,
Milan
