Picasa Web Albums was fairly widespread news this week and I'm surprised that a user group leader was not aware of it.
Here's another user group leader who was unaware of it. We don't necessarily have broader channels of communication than anyone else, or time to look for such info. I rely heavily on a very few specific lists for digested and concentrated news about such products for Mac, specifically AUGD, InfoManager and TidBITS for the most part. I have seen no news about a Mac version in those sources. A separate search (using Google) for "PicasaWeb Mac" did get me to a download link indirectly through O'Reilly.
There is nothing about Mac on the Picasa website I can find even now that I know to search for it. PicasaWeb is listed as in testing by invitation only on the site, and the requirements state Windows 2000/XP. It wasn't until I ignored that, requested and received an invitation to test PicasaWeb, agreed to the TOS and actually got to the point of uploading some photos (or failing to upload them if it still proved to be Windows only) that I was actually offered a Mac download.
Thanks for letting us know about it.
