Not to beat this into the ground, but...

The OP's original question was this....

"Ok, iDisk was a different option but some of them suggest the utilities to convert gmail to a disk..

so, may someone of you have a good point to keep having .mac instead of google?"

Not....

This thread started with Jose asking about the difference between .Mac and Google's services.

My response was that the Picasa website said their software was M$ only. That would be a good reason, to me anyway, not to use Picasa, and directly answered the OP's question.

Now, I know that the software is out there, but, I'm not inclined to go to my membership and point out all the hurdles you have to jump in order to be able to use googles services. Those in my group that are want to overcome the hurdles are motivated enough to do so. I'll let them percolate that info through the group.

Now until google makes their services as ready to use as dot mac, I think many of my group will continue to find dot mac a value. Finding value is relative to the user, not an absolute.

You thought it would be a good idea to rally around one list user by admonishing others? Then issue proclamation on what UG leaders should be doing? Personally, I think this keep a lot of people from posting to this list. I admit, that my answer came across a little flippant, but, it was a direct answer to the question and wasn't intended to be off-putting.

The good news from all of this is that this is one of the few times I have actually seen a discussion on this list about user groups, their leaders and leadership roles. I am a little disappointed in this list. I see many post that would be better suited for the Apple Support discussion boards than a user group discussion list. And really that is OK, it is another resource for learning. But...

I would really like to see more discussions about User Groups themselves.

I have a ton of questions, maybe some good ideas - all about UG's, how to improve, gain membership, improve participation, organize programs. I would really like to see more of that. Anybody care to go first?
